NDIS Positive Behaviour Support
Person-centred, Trauma-informed Behaviour Support for Individuals with Complex Needs
At Specialist Behaviour, we provide ethical, evidence-based NDIS Behaviour Support for individuals who experience behaviours of concern and require specialised, compassionate support.Â
Our practice is grounded in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and shaped by a strong commitment to person-centred and trauma-informed care. We work collaboratively with participants, families, carers, and support teams to improve quality of life, build skills, and reduce the need for restrictive practices.Â

Our Approach
Person-centred at every step
We believe that behaviour is a form of communication. Our work begins with understanding the individual behind the behaviour — their strengths, preferences, needs, lived experiences, culture, and goals.
Participants and stakeholders are active partners in the process as much as possible, and their voice guides assessment, planning, and intervention.
Trauma-informed and respectful
We recognise that many individuals who engage in behaviours of concern have experienced unmet needs, trauma, adversity, and/or systemic disadvantage. Our practitioners take a trauma-informed approach that prioritises:Â
- Emotional and physical safetyÂ
- Choice, autonomy, and dignityÂ
- Trust, transparency, and collaborationÂ
- Support strategies are designed to reduce distress and eliminate unnecessary restrictions, not to control behaviour.Â
Ethical and evidence based
All services align with:Â
- NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission requirementsÂ
- Positive Behaviour Support Capability FrameworkÂ
- Human rights and person-centred principlesÂ
We actively advocate for reducing and eliminating restrictive practices through proactive, skill building supports.Â
